Position Summary:

Support high quality spiritual and academic instruction for all classes grades PreK3-12. Equip our teachers to teach academic concepts through a Biblical worldview. Facilitate the constant revision and improvement of school curriculum through observation, professional development and data analysis of student progress and mastery.

Responsibilities

  • Assist all instructors in designing and reviewing their curriculum regularly to include expeditionary learning practices and biblical integration
  • Assist expedition guide teachers in creating well-integrated and relevant learning expeditions
  • Connect with teachers on an individual basis to monitor student progress and standard mastery
  • Schedule classroom observation times and follow ups for each instructor (formal evaluations for school-wide teaching staff)
  • School-wide data analysis towards goals and standardized testing
  • Conduct an annual textbook review and purchase needed resources
  • Manage the scheduling and proctoring of the standardized testing (MAP, EasyCBM)
  • Work towards department goals as outlined by supervisor and strategic plan
  • Ensure that grade level team meetings are occurring on a regular basis, review meeting minutes and assist in any needed follow-up
  • Lead bi-monthly GLL meetings
  • Maintain open communication with Vice Principal and Academic Director regarding teacher needs and overall morale
  • Together with the Academic Director and Vice Principal, coordinate and prepare dynamic Professional Developments for the instructional staff
  • Together with the Academic Director, Vice Principal and Human Resources, prepare for and participate in summer staff orientations
  • Organize and maintain a system for checking things in and out of the resource lab
  • Review weekly lesson plans submitted by teaching staff
  • Plan the Professional Development for All Staff Orientation as well as the Instructional portion of New Staff Orientation
  • Prepare and update the contents of Staff Binders
  • Supervise all student teachers
  • Oversee the “Teacher Mentor Program”
  • Review ODED logistics and teacher plans alongside Expedition Specialist
  • Provide needed certificates for the PDs to give to staff

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from recognized college or university in education, ministry or related field with up to date teaching credentials
  • Possess an intimate and mature relationship with Jesus Christ and is prepared to disciple students and teach weekly devotionals
  • Seeking committed and dynamic teachers preferably with experience in RtI and/or experience as a lead teacher or mentor
  • Strong history of achievement in academic, professional, extracurricular, and/or volunteer settings
  • Superior organizational ability, including planning well and managing responsibilities effectively
  • Perseverance in the face of challenges, ability to adapt to changing environments, and a strong desire to do whatever it takes to improve and develop
  • Excellent critical thinking skills, including the ability to accurately link cause and effect and to generate relevant solutions to problems
  • Passionate about providing high quality education to students from all economic backgrounds and dedicated to student achievement
  • Preferably bilingual
  • Respect for individuals’ diverse experiences and the ability to work effectively with people from a variety of backgrounds; experience working in a cross cultural setting
  • Be flexible and respond in grace when unforeseen situation require your assistance

  • Carry and conduct yourself in a manner worthy of the Gospel of Christ and consistent with DDS beliefs
  • Report directly to the Vice Principal and Academic Director
  • Supported by Academic Director to ensure student mastery of standards and curriculum development
  • Attend weekly staff devotionals, showing commitment to deepen relationship with Christ
  • Participate in biweekly meetings with grade level teams of 4-5 teachers to foster collaboration and communication
  • Engage with Grade Level Leader regarding questions, initiatives and additional support
  • Participate in and assist with staff professional development opportunities
  • Always available for possible substitute teaching
  • Be present, professional and punctual for all required staff meetings and school events (ie. business meetings, expedition nights, outdoor education events, etc.)
