Student Life Activities Coordinator

Position Summary

Oversee the development, implementation and evaluation of Doulos Discovery School co-curricular and student leadership programs. Serve as the primary leader and advisor to the Doulos Student Leadership Council. Oversee all student-run programming. Manage and oversee the Athletic and Intramural programs at Doulos Discovery School. It is understood that the Doulos Staff Code of Conduct applies to all Athletics Positions.

Responsibilities

Oversee the Doulos Student Leadership Council

  • Oversee the application of the DSLC constitution and By-Laws
  • Plan and implement DLSC elections and training by September 1st
  • Supervise the Executive President in executing:
    • Quarterly General Assembly Meetings
    • Monthly Executive Officer Meetings
    • Campus Tours
    • The development and presentation of one piece of legislation
  • Supervise the Vice-President of Operations in executing:
    • The development of DSLC and class budgets
    • Planning, implementation, and evaluation of class fundraiser
    • Approval and accounting for all DSLC related expenses
    • Monthly Senator Check-Ins
    • Approval, training, scheduling, and accountability for class fundraisers
    • Scheduling and documentation of quarterly class meetings
  • Supervise the Vice-President of Programming in executing:
    • Planning, implementation, and evaluation of campus community-building programs
    • Planning, implementation, and evaluation of class community-building programs
  • Oversee the selection and scheduling of School clubs
  • Provide approval, training, scheduling, and accountability for all student-run programs

Plan and implement following programs:

  • Welcome Week
  • DSLC Elections
  • DSLC Training
  • DSLC Retreat

Oversee all Athletics Programs and Coaches

  • Prepare a master budget and supervise equipment inventories.
  • Secure and file the paperwork for equipment requests involving the athletic department.
  • Prepare a master sports calendar that includes district and non-district games/events.
  • Coordinate court and athletic field use for any sporting event with Doulos Administration and maintain the ‘Weekly Campus Usage Schedule’.
  • Organize all off campus transportation for sports teams.
  • Schedule games and tournaments with other teams to be conducted at Doulos or an agreed upon location.
  • Hire and confirm all referees/officials for Doulos sporting events.
  • Secure game workers for athletic contests, chain crews, announcers, clock operators, score keepers, line judges, etc. and submit the list of all contacted workers for that contest to the event supervisor prior to the event.
  • Submit athletic expense request sheets for payment of officials and other workers to the Finance Office.
  • Coordinate the collection of rosters for program information as needed.
  • Assist in supervision at ‘HOME’ athletic contests unless otherwise committed to coaching another athletic program.
  • Assist in the selection of coaches — both staff and non-staff for the athletic programs.
  • Evaluate all athletic programs on an annual basis. Make recommendations for improvement to the Coaching Staff.
  • Conduct a meeting with any non-staff adults interested in joining our coaching staff after the Head Coach of the sport has already met with the individual.
  • Complete an ‘End of Season Evaluation Form’ and hold a conference with all coaches within three weeks after the conclusion of their sport season.
  • Mediate the resolution of problems, issues, and concerns that may arise between coaches and athletic programs.
  • Implement the ‘Student-Athlete Handbook’ and enforce its rules and regulations, including player eligibility.
  • Collect, file, and notify athletes and coaches regarding student eligibility as it pertains to the Student-Athlete Handbook.
  • Collect and maintain on file a properly completed physical card or alternate year physical card for every student participating in athletics. – Physical Evaluation Form.
  • Administer the school athletic code of conduct in a fair and consistent manner that is within the intent of the code.
  • Help with designing and developing the Sports Medicine / Athletic Training branch of the Athletic Programs.
  • Help with designing and developing the Strength and Conditioning Program for during in-season and off-season training.
  • Assist Coaching Staff in designing and ordering team specific equipment as well as any post-season accolades or awards.
  • Present program updates at monthly Athletic Booster Club
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from recognized college or university in divinity, counseling, ministry or related field with up to date teaching credentials
  • Possess an intimate and mature relationship with Jesus Christ and is prepared to disciple students and teach weekly devotionals
  • Seeking committed and dynamic individual preferably with experience in guidance counseling, admissions, and/or experience in higher education
  • Strong history of achievement in academic, professional, extracurricular, and/or volunteer settings
  • Superior organizational ability, including planning well and managing responsibilities effectively
  • Perseverance in the face of challenges, ability to adapt to changing environments, and a strong desire to do whatever it takes to improve and develop
  • Excellent critical thinking skills, including the ability to accurately link cause and effect and to generate relevant solutions to problems
  • Passionate about providing high quality education to students from all economic backgrounds and dedicated to student achievement
  • Preferably bilingual
  • Respect for individuals’ diverse experiences and the ability to work effectively with people from a variety of backgrounds; experience working in a cross cultural setting preferred
  • Be flexible and respond in grace when unforeseen situation require your assistance

  • Always available for possible substitute teaching
  • Be present, professional and punctual for all required staff meetings and school events (ie. business meetings, expedition nights, outdoor education events, etc.)
